In the aftermath of a devastating war, a fissure opens in the ground near the kingdom of Sardius. From the bowels of the underworld, monsters pour forth into the human world. In a bold effort to counter the flood of demons, Sardius calls upon the other kingdoms of the world and a small force consisting of a dozen soldiers is sent down the fissure. Their mission is to explore the underground maze and determine the ultimate plan of the demons who opened it.With the human world already at odds with the demons – or faeries, as some myths call them – Lady Akina struggles to keep her ragtag team together. Having fought on different sides during the war, their internal conflicts threaten to destroy them even before the demons get the chance.As they progress deeper through the dungeon, Akina has her own mission: to bring glory back to her queen, who dishonourably avoided the previous world war. As the true power behind the faeries comes to light, Akina is forced to make difficult decisions about who lives and dies; and whether the ultimate goal of slaying the greatest threat to the human race is worth the lives of her entire party.
